Once Sony revealed the price of their Playstation VR headset earlier this week, most people were pleased to hear about the $399 starting price, but became a bit weary once they found out also that the Playstation Camera is also required to use the headset, and that was not added into the cost of the unit. Today, however, Sony has revealed pricing on a new Playstation VR bundle that includes everything you would need, and it actually doesn't look like too bad of a deal.
On the Playstation Blog, Sony revealed that the Playstation VR Launch Bundle will cost $499.99 and include the following:
- All contents of the PS VR Core bundle:
- PS VR headset
- PS VR cables
- Stereo Headphones
- PlayStation VR Demo Disc
- PlayStation Camera
- 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers
- PlayStation VR Worlds (disc) [includes the "London Heist" demo]
Sony also announced that the bundle will be available for preorder starting at 7:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, March 22nd at participating retailers. All in all, the bundle seems like the way to go, especially if you already own a Playstation Camera, and also looks like a good deal considering how much each of those components cost separately (the Playstation Camera usually retails for $60). Plus, even with the bundle, this looks to still be less expensive than it's other competitors, the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift (which start at $799 and $599 respectively). For people who already own a Playstation 4 and are looking to jump in the VR realm, this may be a good place to start!
