In an article on Polygon, a statement released by Hanno Lemke, general manager of Microsoft Studios Europe, reveals that Microsoft is cancelling the development for Fable Legends, and also is "in discussion" to possibly close down Lionhead Studios. The entire statement has been posted on the official Xbox website, with a few parts quoted below:

After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.

This comes as a big surprise this morning for most people, but it may not be too surprising, considering we have not heard much from this game since we knew the open beta was originally planned to launch this spring. Fable Legends was originally announced in 2013, and previously was planned for release in Q4 2015. With this being the only game in development at LionHead Studios, many people are asking what will be next for them, if the studio is still operating after this.
