In a post on Xbox.com, head of Xbox division Phil Spencer announced that Xbox 360 console manufacturing has ended. In the post, Phil discusses the Xbox 360 turning 10 years old last November, and reflects on some of the achievements of the console, such as helping to improve Xbox Live and introducing some of their current tent pole franchises like Gears of War, while also thanking fans for the incredible support of the console and the Xbox brand. He states that Microsoft will continue to sell through the remainder of the current inventory, but that no new consoles will be made. Phil also assures players that services and support for the aging console will still continue, including Xbox Live servers staying up and support will still be offered at xbox.com/support.
